Find A Merit Badge Counselor

Merit Badge Counselors can now be found in Scoutbook.  Please follow the instructions below.  If you need more help or don’t find a counselor for the merit badge you need, get in touch with Gina Hannemann.

Scoutbook: Find a Counselor

1. Log into Scoutbook, and navigate to your dashboard and scroll down
   to find the list of your units.
2. Select the Troop/Crew you want to find a merit badge counselor for.
3. Scroll down and select “MB Counselor List”.
4. From here you can limit the list of counselors by merit badge, your unit/Scout ZIP code, distance to the counselor, and whether they are currently available to help new Scouts.

How to apply to be a new merit badge counselor. Forms and training needed.

1. Adult Application and CBC disclosure form is required.

2. Merit Badge Counselor Application.

3. Merit Badge Counselor Training (In My.Scouting account).

4. Current on Safeguarding Youth Training.

5. If you aren’t registered in a unit, then there is a $25.00 yearly merit badge counselor fee, which means you can’t participate in camping or other activities with a troop.

*Advancement committee has a limit of 15 badges per merit badge counselor. 

Citizenship in Society Merit Badge

Steps to follow if you are applying to be a merit badge counselor for the Citizenship in Society Merit Badge:

• You need to take the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training in your My.Scouting account first.
• You will be contacted by a Trainer to take an in-person specific training course in order to be approved for the Citizenship in Society Merit Badge.
• After the specific training, the Trainer will email you a form that you will need to fill out and return to them.
