The last date for registration has passed.

This event is open to all Scouts BSA who are at least 13 years old.

There will be no refunds and no waiting list due to the limited capacity of each merit badge.

Scouts will need to get a blue card from their unit leader and bring it to the event. They will not be available at the merit badge clinic.

Supplies Scouts need to gather:

Complete workbook

Pre-requisites:

.  We will go over Requirements 1, 4-8 during the clinic so you’ll have an opportunity record notes/thoughts and we’ll review together at the end of the session.

You’ll notice 2 and 3 are missing from that list.  As you will see, it is not possible to finish these two requirements in the classroom.  This is where I need your help in advance of the clinic so we can avoid a partial.

  • Requirement 2 – Do TWO of the following:
    • Visit a place that is listed as a National Historic Landmark or that is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Tell your counselor what you learned about the landmark or site and what you found interesting about it.
    • Tour your state capitol building or the US Capitol.  Tell your counselor what you learned about the capitol, its function, and its history.
    • Tour a federal facility.  Explain to your counselor what you saw there and what you learned about its function in the local community and how it serves this nation.
    • Choose a national monument that interests you.  Using books, brochures, the Internet (with parent permission), and other resources to find out more about the monument.  Tell your counselor what you learned, and explain why the monument is important to this country’s citizens.
  • Requirement 3 – Watch the national evening news five days in a row OR read the front page of a major daily newspaper five days in a row.  Discuss the national issues you learned about with your counselor.  Choose one of the issues and explain how it affects you and your family.

With regard to Requirement 2, I will count life experience where you actually have a memory of the event.  So if you took a class trip to Madison to the capitol building, you can use that; but you have to be able to tell me what the requirement states.

Class Schedule:

8:30 am - 10:30 am

Each Scout will meet with counselors at the end.

Any of the pre-requisites that are not done before class.

Anything not completed in class due to attending late or leaving early.
