There will now be Hunter Education Classes being offered at the Three Harbors Council Milwaukee Service Center. We are holding our first class in July and, if there is a desire, will schedule more classes throughout the year to meet the need. These classes will be designed to be first come first serve. We are not sure of the full list of class dates for the 2013-2014 year, but will hopefully have that by the end of July. As of now, if you are interested please contact us and we will create a waiting list. When classes are full we will use this list to fill classes in the future. So if you are interested in hunter safety, call and sign up. Per Wisconsin DNR guidelines, you MUST attend all training dates and pass a written test to graduate. The cost of the class is $10.00 payable when materials are picked-up. Contact Lisa Held at 414 443 2843 or Lisa.Held@Scouting.org to register for the classes. Further details will be supplied to the students two weeks before the classes. The hunter education course instills in students the knowledge and skill to be a responsible and safe hunter. The basic course consists of 10 lessons during a minimum of 10 hours. Students learn how hunting accidents are caused and how they can be prevented. Hunter responsibility and safety are stressed throughout the classes, which consist of lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, practical exercises, and individual study and activity assignments. Hunter education graduates receive a certificate that is accepted in every state, Canadian province and Mexico, and does not expire. |
