Thank you for your continued support of Scouting. Your servant leadership helps deliver our values-based program to youth throughout the Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties. I want take this opportunity to update you on the recent discussions within the Scouting family regarding our membership standards policies. After careful consideration and extensive dialogue within the Scouting family, the volunteer officers of the Boy Scouts of America’s National Executive Board concluded that a careful review of our current membership policies must be conducted. To that end, the National BSA Board directed its committees to engage representatives of Scouting’s membership and listen to their perspectives and concerns. This will assist the officer’s work on writing a resolution on membership standards. The approximately 1400 voting members of the National Council will take action on the resolution at the National Meeting on May 23, 2013. All registered members of the BSA should have already received an invitation to participate in a Voice of the Scout survey related to this issue. You may also contact us directly with your comments at Scouting@ThreeHarborsScouting.org. Once the resolution from the National Council is released, the over 300 voting members of Three Harbors Council will weigh in on the issue at a special meeting to be held prior to the National Board meeting in May. The intent of this meeting is to poll the voting members, and decide how to allocate the 5 votes we have on this issue. America needs Scouting, and our policies must be based on what is in the best interest of our youth members. We believe good people can disagree and still work together to accomplish great things for youth. Going forward, we will stay focused on that which unites us. Stay engaged and continue your role in Scouting. The kids in our community need you! .jpg) Ed Brandon Scout Executive/CEO Supreme Chief of the Fire |
