As we turn the page on this 2013 calendar year, our district is writing new pages of program excitement into the 2014 season for our Scouting youth, parents and its adult leaders.
- On January 18th our annual district Klondike will be held at Camp OhDaKoTa, hosted by Scoutmaster Ron Schaefer and Troop 595. As a veteran Klondike organizer...it is certain to be an awesome event!
- February 7th is our district dinner, where Cindy Algiers orchestrates our annual district dinner program that will honor our most recent District Award of Merit recipients.
- Our Cub Scout Winter Event (February 8th) coordinated by Steve Swaitko will be held at Petrifying Springs and will be a morning of fun and games.
During my tenure as District Chairman I promised myself that I would dedicate as much energy as possible to be sure our Scouts have fully trained adult leadership. With a very dedicated District Committee we have created the synergy needed to propel our programs to new heights. With the addition of District Training Chairperson Angela Bucher, our district is already conducting Youth Protection Training at unit meeting sites. This group training will assure we have as many trained adults as possible; and it will serve notice that ALL training is paramount to having a successful youth program. As we move forward with more adult trainers we will be conducting as many leader specific training programs as possible.
Ken Walton (District Advancement Chairman), has conducted several ‘Eagle Coach’ trainings, and strives to see that our Eagle Scout candidates are coached / mentored with qualified adult leaders.
