Council Recognition Dinner
The Three Harbors Council Recognition dinner was held on March 26 at the Clarion Hotel. Nicholas Potter, Eagle Scout Troop 161 led the pledge of alligence and Mary Holt Crew 194 and Venturing Leadership award receiptent said the invocation.
Tom Mahoney, Council President presented the Adam Briesemeister family – Wayne, Cindy and Scott Briesemeister with the Honor Medal with Crossed Palms. This medal was posthumously bestowed upon Adam Briesemeister for demonstrating unusual heroism and extraordinary skill or resourcefulness in saving a human life at extreme risk to self.
The Venturing Leadership Award went to a young lady who has been a high performing student while maintaining an active role in Scouting. Mary Holz, Crew 194 was presented with the Venturing Leadership award by Dave Boyer, Vice President of Venturing.
Ed Brandon, Scout Executive thanked all the Scouts and Scouters in attendance, “Because of your servant leadership, 2012 was a great year.” Then introduce the 2012 Eagle Scout class and their sponsors. Mitchell McGlinn, Troop 598 spoke on behalf of the Eagle Scouts and talked about his project and thanked the parents and Scout Leaders for all of their support. Mitchell shared some words of wisdom. “Determination is the key to success. Without determination, we wouldn’t have had the will to become Eagle Scouts. By setting your mind to it, anything is possible. My dad, always told me to Never Give Up, but I added to that. I say, Dream Big, Work Hard, and Never Give Up.”
The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a Boy Scout council can bestow on an adult volunteer leader. The award is presented to those volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting program. Nominations are recommended by the local council and approved by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
