Thomas A. Burke, President and Chief Executive Officer of Modine Manufacturing Company
Tom Burke was named President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of Modine Manufacturing Company’s Board of Directors in March 2008. Tom joined Modine in 2005 as Executive Vice President. In July 2006, he was promoted to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, taking on the responsibilities of streamlining the company’s global organizational structure. As COO, he was in charge of all global operations for the Powertrain Cooling, Engine, Passenger Thermal Management, Commercial and Fuel Cell Products Groups, as well as Environmental, Safety and Security. Prior to joining Modine, Tom worked for nine years with Visteon Corporation, where he was Vice President of North American Manufacturing Operations with responsibility for more than $10 billion in sales. There, he led an effort to develop and implement business strategies to enhance the company’s global manufacturing product portfolio. Before that, and based in Cologne, Germany, Tom served as Vice President of European and South American Manufacturing and Vice President of North American and Asian Operations.
Previously, Tom spent 13 years with Ford Motor Company in the Climate Control Division in a variety of engineering and operations positions in the United States and Mexico. Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tom received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Purdue University. He presently serves on the Board of Trustees of MAPI/Manufacturers’ Alliance and the Board of Directors of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and on the Campaign Cabinet for United Way of Racine County.
Tom is an advisor to Advancing Family Assets, which serves low-wage working families through the provision of high quality support services in line with individual success plans that address the whole family in the areas of income, education and health.
He is also a board member of the Young Leaders Academy (YLA). YLA is a program dedicated to the improvement of the low-income, minority communities in Racine. Its mission is to strengthen the City of Racine by nurturing its most at-risk population, inner-city minority youth between ages 8 and 14.
Tom and his wife Ginee have been married for 32 years. They have two grown children, a daughter who lives in Washington, D.C., and a son who lives in Philadelphia. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and boating.
