Southshore Klondike 2013 at IMR!!! Even though the weather did not cooperate (most of the snow melted Friday night), the 2013 Southshore District Klondike was a ROARING success! (See the fires? Roaring, get it?) We had a great turnout this year, totaling 148 brave souls that came out despite the bitter cold. The Scouts that participated competed in numerous events, each testing their abilities and promoting leadership & teamwork at the Patrol level. The event’s activities included: - Fire Making
- Shelter Building
- First Aid
- Lashings
- Knot Tying
- Orienteering
These events were timed and the Scouts were rated on their ability to work alone as well as with their patrols. We had a bonfire at the Fun Bowl, where patrols were recognized for their achievements throughout the day. The winners for each event: First Aid – Troop 481 Knot Tying – Troop 481 Orienteering – Troop 230 Shelter Building – Troop 252 Lashings – Troop 230 Fire Making – Troop 252 The Games winners were: Crab Walk – Troop 252 Ping Pong Relay – Troop 235 Jacket Relay – Troop 208 Snow Snake – Troop 108/Troop 205 Clothes Circle – Troop 213 Block & Tackle – Troop 252 A special congratulations to Troop 481 for winning the overall competition, and receiving the traveling Klondike trophy along with bragging rights for 2013! A special thanks to Jeff Schlax and Tony Stocker of Troop 205 for putting on a great event! Thanks to all of the other Scout adults and leaders that attended as well! We couldn’t do it without you! I thank you, and I know the boys do too! As always, I am only an e-mail or phone call (414) 443-2855 away! Yours in Scouting, Ken Fredricks Southshore District Executive Three Harbors Council, BSA |
