Exploring Leader Training

Training is available for all Exploring leaders, including Advisors, assistants and committee members.

When am I Considered Trained?

Being a "trained" Venturing leader includes two main requirements: Youth Protection and position-specific training.

Exploring Youth Protection Training

All adults in ANY position in Scouting must complete Youth Protection training. Youth Protection is also highly recommended for any Scout parents or adults who may assist at the post level, even if they are not registered. Youth Protection training must be completed every two years in order to remain valid. Training can be done online at My.Scouting.org, or it can be completed in a group setting.

The Exploring program has its own unique Youth Protection course due to the program's coed nature and the wider age-range of its participants. Exploring leaders must complete Exploring Youth Protection in order to be considered trained.

Learn more about Scouting's Youth Protection guidelines and its barriers to abuse at www.Scouting.org/YouthProtection.

Position-Specific Training

Each adult leader position in Exploring has its own specialized training to get you on the fast track to leading an Exploring post. These basic training courses can be taken online at My.Scouting.org. Position-specific training available for Exploring leaders includes:
  • Post Advisor and Associate Advisor
    • Explorer Leader Basic Training
  • Post Committee Chair and Committee Members
    • Post Committee Training
